The HCJC Alumni would like to seek your support towards the Golden Jubilee SEF Fund Raise.
About SEF
The SEF was officially set up by the HCJC Alumni in Apr 2020 via the Community Foundation of Singapore (CFS), with an initial sum of around S$500,000. The main objectives of the SEF are primarily to provide financial assistance to the financially challenged students in HCI, as well as to recognise those who have demonstrated all-round excellence and have participated actively in leadership and community services.
The HCJC Alumni has a long history of supporting financially challenged students in HCI. Prior to the setup of the SEF (“Pre-SEF”) in 2020, the HCJC Alumni Bursary Award was already set up in 1999 to provide financial assistance for HCI (College Section) students, e.g. From 2009 – 2022, the Pre-SEF fund disbursed 695 Bursary Awards, totaling S$618,000.
There are a total of 6 awards supported by the SEF. Among the awards, the HCJC Alumni Bursary Award constitutes the majority of the yearly disbursement, amounting to S$128,000 out of the total disbursement of S$139,000 in FY 2023, a record amount disbursed.
Significant Increase in Bursary Awards Disbursed
With a long-term view to sustain our commitment to support our juniors and seeing a significant increase of 80% in the Bursary Awards awarded in FY 2023 compared to FY 2022, a trend anticipated to continue, there is a compelling need for the HCJC Golden Jubilee SEF Fund Raising. The aim for the fund raising is to ensure sufficient funding to fund our commitment for the next 8-10 years.
Target Fund Raise
The initial target for this special fund-raising event is S$1 million.
We look forward to your strong support for our young juniors. All donations above $50 to the HCJC Alumni SEF via CFS will be eligible for 2.5X tax deduction.
